How to write CV bullets with numbers and outcomes
Duties versus results
A duty says what your job was. A result says what changed because you did it. Employers hire for results.
What to measure
- Scale: people, clients, budget, volume.
- Time: hours saved, days to deliver.
- Money: revenue, cost, savings.
- Quality: errors, satisfaction, retention.
Examples
Before
Responsible for customer support.
After
Handled about 40 customer tickets a day and raised satisfaction from 82% to 91% in 6 months.
If you have no numbers
Describe the scope and the outcome in plain words: what you built, for whom, and what it changed.
Frequently asked questions
What if I do not know exact numbers?
Use an honest estimate and say so: 'about 20 clients', 'roughly 30% faster'. Never invent a figure you cannot defend in an interview.
